The information you provide to the Registration of Canadians Abroad service may be used by Government of Canada or a third party, when necessary, to contact, protect and assist you and your co-travellers in case of an emergency. Your information will only be used in accordance with the provisions of Canada’s Privacy Act. The Government of Canada does not charge a fee for this service and will only contact you in case of an emergency, or if you ask to receive messages upon arrival at your destination. Please note that your mobile carrier may charge a fee for roaming outside of Canada and/or for receiving text messages. Check with your mobile carrier for information on how this might affect you.

Unless otherwise notified by you or a family member, we will consider your trip completed on the return date specified in your registration.

NOTE: Our site uses a secure mechanism to protect your personal information during transmission. If you have any concerns, you can register with Registration of Canadians Abroad in person. For further privacy information, please consult Government of Canada privacy notice.

All personal information on registrants and their co-travellers will be destroyed 12 months after the registrant has returned to Canada, based on the return date indicated in the registrant's latest trip information. If during these 12 months a new trip is registered, a new date for the destruction of personal information will be set based on the new return date.
